Whether it is a two weeks tour or a small excursion, we will arrange a fishing tour as an activity of your trip. If you are a hard core angler, we would arrange your whole tour experiences with different fishing methods, different locations and different varieties of fishes.
Being surrounded by sea, it is no surprise that Sri Lanka has an abundance of fish available. Its unspoiled seas and fishing zones hold an abundance of game fish for the keen angler. Due to the underwater currents that carry Zooplankton and other crustaceans these in turn attract big game fish closer to shore. The deep sea areas around the Island are the known playground of Sail Fish, Giant Trevally, Benito, Queen Fish, Yellow-Fin Tuna, Spanish Mackerel or Wahoo, Sailfish, Blue Marline, large Barracuda, Groupers, Sharks plus others making it an appealing adventure when it comes to sea angling. The best sports' fishing is on the Western and Southern Coastal areas from November to April and Eastern Coast from May to October when the seas are calm. But in the South Eastern Coast the deep sea fishing is possible only in the month of April in particular days.
Another unique method of catching fish in the sea is Stilt fishing which is a traditional method being practiced by the fishermen in Koggala area. It’s a beautiful sight looking at fishermen balancing on a thin plank, but at the same time it’s tough too. They usually fish during sunset, noon and sunrise, with each one taking their elevated position and balancing about 2 meters above the water.
Our Deep Sea Fishing sessions will be on trolling method and usually we conduct two sessions a day. The Morning session will start at 6.00am and the evening session starts by 2.00pm and both sessions will last 3-4 hours.
